Lester B. Pearson School Board is the second largest English public school board in the province of Quebec. Our territory is on the west end of the island of Montreal and it extends to the Ontario border. Lester B. Pearson School Board is proud to offer youth, adult and vocational education programs to international students from all around the globe. Our international students are hosted by thirty (30) elementary schools, nine (9) secondary schools, three (3) adult education centres, six (6) vocational (career) training centres and two (2) international department locations. The Lester B. Pearson School Board 5 year graduation rate is 16% higher than the provincial public school average. Our commitment to student success is guided by 3 core values: Achievement, Wellness, and Engagement.
The Lester B. Pearson School Board is proud to have established recruitment partnerships with over thirty (30) countries around the world. Such partnerships allow for an incredibly diverse student culture not only within our programs, but in the Canadian community as a whole. As part of such a diverse community, the Lester B. Montreal is the largest city in Quebec. Predominantly French-speaking. It’s set on an island in the Saint Lawrence River and named after Mt. Royal, the triple-peaked hill at its heart. Its 19 boroughs, many of which were once independent cities, include neighborhoods from cobblestoned, French colonial Vieux-Montréal – with imposing Notre-Dame Basilica at its center – to industrial Sud-Ouest and artist-friendly Plateau. The area is 365.1 km2 and the population is 1.65 million (2011). Montreal is also known for its sports teams: Montreal Canadian (hockey), Montreal Impact (soccer), Montreal Alouettes (football) and Montreal Shamrocks (lacrosse).
International students may choose to live in residence while attending classes in schools of the Lester B. Pearson School Board or opting for homestay. The Lester B. Pearson School Board is associated with the Canada Homestay Network (please visit their website at http://www.canadahomestayinternational.com).
We offer many different models and designs to meet the diverse needs of our international students. In each of our secondary schools, we provide a wide variety of Program offerings. Students are encouraged to participate in academic, athletic, leadership and student governance activities.
In our vocational centers, activities are organized in each of our centers and students are encouraged to participate. Vocational centers are easily accessible by city buses.
