The Louis Riel School Division (LRSD) is a public school division that welcomes high‑school aged international students and values the diverse perspectives they bring to schools and classrooms. LRSD offers affordable, high‑quality educational experiences with full immersion in English or French learning environments. Alongside full‑year and semester programs, students can also participate in a unique land‑based summer program that promotes language development through hands‑on, experiential learning rooted in real‑life use of English.
LRSD provides safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments grounded in student‑centered approaches to teaching and learning. Students are encouraged to express their individuality while engaging with a sound curriculum delivered through high‑quality instruction. This foundation of academic excellence is further enriched by award‑winning band programs, more than 15 extra‑curricular sports, comprehensive libraries, well‑equipped computer facilities, science laboratories, theatres, and gymnasiums. LRSD champions student autonomy and offers programming that supports diverse interests across arts and humanities, STEM fields, social sciences, and practical or applied studies.
Students studying in the International Student Program are supported by a caring and dedicated team that arranges medical insurance, greets students at the airport, conducts weekly school check‑ins, assists with course selection, provides orientation sessions, transfers out‑of‑country credits, monitors attendance, maintains communication with agents and/or guardians, and coordinates homestay placements.
LRSD’s in-house Homestay Program uses a personalized matching process to place students with families whose interests align with their own. The Homestay Coordinator conducts home visits to ensure continued safety and suitability, maintains regular communication with families and students, supports conflict resolution, and responds to off‑hour emergencies. Homestay families play a vital role in students’ experience, offering a welcoming environment where they can immerse themselves in Canadian culture, daily life, and conversational English or French. LRSD families put the home in homestay!

LRSD works closely with both Homestay families and international students to ensure a positive experience for all.
By pursuing personal interests at school, students are able to enrich their educational experience.
