Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (Conseil scolaire catholique du district d'Algonquin et de Lakeshore)

The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic School District is located on the shores of Lake Ontario, approximately 200 km east of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Our schools are in three small safe cities located in Trenton (population 43,000), Belleville (population 51,000) and Kingston (population 140,000).

An excellent pre-university secondary school program is available. This is for students 14 to 19 years of age and leads to an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Students may begin the program either in February or September. You can come for a short period of five to six months, one year or until the completion of Secondary School.

The percentage of international students is less than 3% of our population of students. This allows for a true Canadian cultural experience while studying in one of our five secondary schools.

During the school year the student lives with a Canadian homestay family. A private room, three meals a day and access to the home’s facilities are provided. The student will enjoy the security and care of life with a Canadian family.

English as a second language is offered in all secondary schools. The length of the course adapts to the needs of student.

We invite you to “COME STUDY WITH US” in a safe, reliable, exciting and academically challenging school!

Kingston, with a population of 100,000 people, is the largest city between Toronto and Montreal. Kingston is a city rich in Canadian history, with first settlements dating back 300 years. The city gains great prominence from being recognized as the home of Sir John A. MacDonald, Canada’s first Prime Minister. Kingston has long been recognized as a community that provides academic excellence. In addition to outstanding Roman Catholic elementary and secondary schools, it also features St. Lawrence College, Royal Military College, and Queen’s University.

Trenton, with a population of 17,000 people, is the gateway to the Trent Severn Waterway, an interior waterway which is connected by a series of locks extending to Georgian Bay. The city is well situated at the mouth of the Trent River and on the shores of the Bay of Quinte. Trenton is one of the cities composing the greater region of Quinte West. Trenton Air Base is the largest military air base in Canada, and is located on the outskirts of town.
