School District #48 has a modern and progressive school system offering a full range of educational programs and services. International students are integrated into classes with the local students. All our schools are accredited by the British Columbia Ministry of Education and offer a government curriculum.
For those students whose English skills need developing, most high schools offer ESL support. The courses offered at the schools are taught by university-trained teachers certified by the British Columbia College of Teachers and dedicated to preparing students for provincial examinations and post-secondary studies. The latest in technology is utilized in classrooms. Schools feature high quality science labs, specialty rooms such as computer labs, art rooms, drama rooms, music rooms and well-equipped gymnasiums.
Courses of study in all secondary schools include mathematics, English, social studies, the sciences, computer studies, fine arts, business studies, and physical education. Vocational facilities such as an automotive shop, metalwork and woodwork shops can be found at most of our secondary schools.

Our students stay in a homestay situation which provides our students with the opportunity to improve their spoken English on a daily basis. Our Homestay Services Provider makes sure students are placed with a family that is the best possible match. Our families are carefully selected and must go through a Criminal Record Check before being accepted into our program. Once accepted, our families provide a good, clean, comfortable home environment with a private bedroom for the student with facilities for studying and three healthy meals a day.
There are many opportunities for students to become involved in a variety of club and sporting activities through the school year if they so wish.
