Canadian culture while living with a one of our host homestay families.
As an international student, you will be housed by a local family who will support you with transitioning into your new experience of coming to Canada. The host family will become your home away from home and provide you with an opportunity to experience Canadian culture, customs, and the English language.
Our welcoming homestay families also invite students to share their homeland culture and experiences to the host family. Being in the right home is critical to success and we recognize the importance of this so great care is taken to match our international student to the most compatible and best home for him or her. The Greater Essex County District School Board has a partnership with Muskoka Languages International to provide homestay services.
Muskoka Languages International provide students with a safe, caring and nurturing home environment. Students will have a private bedroom and regular nutritious meals. Muskoka Languages International will receive financial compensation on a set monthly basis to cover the additional expenses they incur by hosting a student. Spending money is the responsibility of the student and his/her natural parents. The hosts support and care for the student as their own child and the intention is to make him/her feel like a true member of the family.
In addition, we have many other extracurricular activities such as school drama programs, school bands, chess clubs, environmental clubs to name a few. Whatever you interest is, chances are we will have an activity you are interested in.
