In the Saanich Schools International Program students feel a sense of accomplishment, personnel fulfillment and a boost in self-confidence. This is achieved as they become a part of the safe, accepting community of Saanich, a municipality located in beautiful British Columbia near the capital city of Victoria and Sidney by the Sea. Here, students take advantage of our mild climate and enjoy outdoor activities all year long. Our coastal location offers breathtaking scenery, the spectacular beauty of the Pacific Ocean, mountains, rain forests, beaches and parks. Whatever students are interested in, outdoor adventure, sports, arts, or shopping and entertainment, this is the place to be. In our three Saanich High Schools students grow through fun, challenging activities. Our International learners get a ‘grade A’ education while they make great friends and experience West Coast, Canadian living.

Vancouver Island and our area is home to magnificent natural wonders, a rich cultural heritage, and generous hospitality – characteristics that our international student absolutely love. Dense rainforests, bucolic valleys, soaring mountains peaks, pounding surf and clear rivers are matched by the allure of attractive villages and seaside towns. Greater Victoria can justly boast about the mildest weather in Canada. Summer is usually warm and sunny,with comfortable ocean breezes. The average high is in the mid-20sC.
In Winter the region is the most temperate of all B.C., and flowers really do grow in January. Only on Vancouver Island and the coast of B.C. can one golf and ski on the same day. Believe it or not this is still Canada.
The West Coast offers enough activities and attractions to keep every age group and every taste entertained. The energetic can scuba dive, kayak, bungee jump,whale watch, sail, golf, cycle, hike, climb, or fish. Those looking for a less active experience can tour gardens, explore museums or see a play.

The homestay experience is an integral part of the success of our international student program. We believe it to be a wonderful opportunity for people from different countries and cultures to interact and break down barriers.
We select families with a keen interest in other cultures, an open and respectful attitude towards others, and a willingness to integrate a young person into their home.
Each of Saanich’s school is known for high academic achievement and successful extracurricular activities. Stelly’s is known throughout the region for its successful drama programs including improvisational theatre. Claremont fosters an environment dedicated to meeting the needs of high achieving student-athletes through the Claremont Sports Institute. Parkland students have access to extensive career development programs while still in school. At all schools, school grounds and gymnasia enable a full range of sports activities. Students also have access to first class dramatic art facilities.
