Red Public Schools has two high schools with modern facilities and equipment. The two high schools, because of their large size (1800 and 1400 students) offer a wide range of courses and programs. 

Specialized Programs include: International Baccalaureate, French Immersion, Advanced Placement and Sports Excellence. There are also many, many courses to choose from, including Academic courses: Mathematics, English, English as a Second Language, Social Studies, Science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology to Option courses: Physical Education, Recreation Education, Martial Arts, Outdoor Education, Animation, Computer Technology, Robotics, Motion Media, Photography, Communication Technology, Graphic Arts, Digital Video Production, Design Studies, Architecture, Financial Studies, Legal Studies, Programming, Web Design, Autobody, Fabrication, Construction, Mechanics, Cosmetology, Fashion, Foods, Sports and Medical Studies, Art, Band, Rock Band, Guitar, Choir, Dance, Drama, Leadership, and Psychology. Both schools offer very strong language programs including: French, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese.

The City of Red Deer with a population of 102 000 is centrally located in the western Canadian province of Alberta. It is:

Red Deer Public Schools offer Homestay for international students who are fourteen years of age and older or entering grade eight. Students will have the opportunity to live with carefully screened families in a safe, caring, mid sized community of the City of Red Deer. We offer:

  • Reputable, carefully selected Red Deer families
  • Comfortable, safe Homestay homes with a private bedroom
  • Our homestays always have easy access to public transportation
  • Support and guidance for students from in school counsellors
  • Support of a Homestay Coordinator from International Services of Red Deer Public Schools

Again the size of our schools allow us to offer students a multitude of choices when it comes to selecting Extra Curricular Athletics or Clubs to participate in. Athletics includes: Soccer, Football, Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, Curling, Golf, Tennis, Badminton, Track and Field, Cross Country Running, Rugby, and both high schools have excellent weight rooms. Clubs and other Activities include: Ski and Snowboard Club, Dodgeball, Anime Club, Environmental Club, ESports Club, Lunchbox Theatre, Improv Club, International Student Club, Thurber Idol, Battle of the Bands, Robotics and Dances. As part of the Activities Fee, Red Deer Public Schools International Program provides activities locally, as well as provincially. Students can learn to ski, they will visit the Rocky Mountains, visit Calgary and Edmonton, as well as a visit to the Badlands.

Annual Homestay Placement Fee: $600 and Re-Registration Fee for returning students: $300

Medical Insurance: $600 for the year/$350 for one semester

Annual Custodianship Fee: 0

Activities Fee: $250 for one semester/$500 for one school year

Bus Pass: $350 for one semester/$700 for one school year.
