School District 42 provides caring Canadian homestays in our community that are within the schools catchment. Our families are registered and monitored by School District Staff. The homestay manager and homestay support staff’s role is to monitor and provide support to the international student guiding them to a positive homestay experience. Students requiring a homestay will be placed in a single-family dwelling with English speaking Canadian families to provide stability and depth to students’ cultural education and to support their English language studies.

Students who do not require a homestay placement because they will be residing with a relative or other responsible person (an adult age 25 or older) in School District 42 may be accepted into the education program and may also receive counselling support with respect to their schooling. Students requesting this option must complete the Homestay Exemption form.

In the case of elementary students, students who are not turning 12 in the present school year must live with a parent or custodian approved placement.

All of the schools offer a multitude of extracurricular activities and clubs for the students to choose from. These clubs are offered before school, during lunch break and after school hours. The diversity of the clubs range from arts and crafts, outdoor adventure, sports, community awareness, music, computer and personal development. The school’s international liaison teacher can assist the students in choosing a club or extracurricular activity that suits their personal interests.
