The City of Lethbridge is a perfect destination for international students. We have a vibrant community of just under 100,000 residents. We are large enough to provide all major amenities and recreational facilities, and yet small enough for easy access to everything. The people in our city are friendly and the community is a clean, safe and caring place to live and study. Lethbridge is the economic hub of southwest Alberta. We have many recreational facilities including public swimming pools, ice skating arenas, and numerous parks and green spaces. There is a strong arts, music, and culture community associated with our art galleries, museums, theatres and libraries.

Within the city we have two major post-secondary institutions including the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College. We also have two major science research facilities. Lethbridge is within easy driving distance to many popular destinations such as the majestic Rocky Mountains! Our students enjoy easy access to skiing, hiking, fishing and camping. Our location allows us to readily visit Calgary, Banff, Crowsnest Pass and Waterton Lakes National Park. What a great place to live!

Our school district works in partnership with Canada Homestay Network. Students are placed in the homes of local families where you are guaranteed to have your own private furnished bedroom, three healthy meals each day, and access to television, laundry facilities and local telephone services. Our families are screened in advanced, and we only choose families who have a genuine interest in providing support and care for our students. Your host family will help you adjust to life in Canada, and they will look after you! We will make every effort to match you to the best family possible. Also, we will place you with a family that is as close as possible to your new school. Many students grow very close to their host families and they stay in touch for many years after returning home. We believe that the homestay experience is an important part of the international student’s experience because it provides you with a family away from home that will care for you, allow you to learn more about Canadian culture and help you with further developing your English language skills!

Our schools are full of activity! You can become involved in a huge variety of clubs and groups, all supervised by staff members from our schools. The athletic programs offer both competitive and non-competitive programs in many sports including volleyball, basketball, Canadian football, rugby, baseball, badminton, golf, cross-country running, track and field, and curling. In the fine arts you can become involved in band or choir, join an art club or get involved with the school play. We offer leadership opportunities, student council activities, year book production, and many specific clubs such as peer support club and National Honours Society, travel clubs and social action clubs. Most of these clubs are free of charge. However, there are fees to participate on our competitive school athletic teams or to travel with the travel clubs.

Our schools are full of spirit and pride. Students participate in school dances, attend pep rallies and enjoy the fun at school assemblies. Students have access to great library and cafeteria facilities. You will make many new friendships and create memories that will last your lifetime!
