The Chinook International Program (CIP) offers programs for students aged 14 – 18. Students 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Our small school setting provides students with a quality of education that is unparalleled. Small class sizes (12-15 students) and a focus on one on one instruction geared to the needs of each individual student creates an atmosphere where students are inspired to succeed.
For students who are seeking a Canadian post secondary program, CIP offers career counseling in grade 12 which helps students to choose an area of post secondary focus, including completing entrance, residence and scholarship applications. Further to this, agreements with our local college and university provide students a direct pathway to post secondary programs upon meeting certain criteria.
Given the location of CIP, students are afforded the opportunity to experience true immersion. The community is strictly English speaking and the number of students from any language group is limited to increase a student’s ability to perfect their English by the completion of their program.

The Chinook International Program is located in the heart of Saskatchewan’s Southwest. This beautiful and pristine part of the country offers perfect Prairie vistas, with unbelievable sunsets and scenic views. CIP is located in the community of Hazlet, which is a suburban-like community outside of the city of Swift Current. Hazlet is a dynamic and active community full of friendly and welcoming people. The students who attend the Chinook International Program develop a strong connection to the community of Hazlet, many of them returning time and again for visits with their host family and the community in general. This aspect of the program sets CIP apart from other programs.
The Chinook International Program is situated in the heart of oil and agriculture country. This means that the residents of this area are fairly affluent. Host families live in large homes where students will have their own private bedroom and sometimes, a private bathroom. Carefully screened host families are skilled in competently hosting students, providing a safe and caring environment, where students become a part of the family.
Students could be placed in town or on one of our farm or ranch homestay placements. Students who live on a farm or ranch have the opportunity to experience Canadian farm life at its finest, with access to the animals, activities and open spaces characteristic of the Canadian farm.
Students who are accepted to CIP are provided much more than an education, they become forever a part of our community, able to call Saskatchewan their honorary Canadian home!
CIP aims to provide a well-rounded program where academics are central but extracurricular programs are also considered an important aspect of the student’s experience. Various sports, and clubs are offered to students to ensure that they get the most out of their time in Canada.
Volleyball, curling (a popular ice sport), ice skating, badminton, and track and field are sports that are popular in our program. For those people who prefer non-athletic ventures there is an art club, a science club, and student government as well as numerous opportunities for volunteerism within the community.
