Campbell River is located on the east coast of Vancouver Island. Campbell River is a community of about 35,000, with all the amenities usually found in larger centres. We have our own hospital, several museums, three recreation centres, and because we are the gateway to the North Island, we have a larger retail sector than is usual for a city of our size. Our area is renowned for its natural beauty and mild climate. With ocean on one side, and mountains on the other, recreational opportunities abound – skiing, fishing, whale-watching, golf, and dozens of other activities are available within 45 minutes of town.
Campbell River families have been welcoming international students into their homes for more than 28 years. Campbell River Schools International prides itself on offering a true Canadian cultural experience filled with new activities, new foods and a welcoming Canadian family. We believe that this provides International students with the best opportunity to learn English by speaking English in the home every day with English speaking parents, brothers and sisters. Our Homestay Program is run internally within Campbell River Schools International and is designed to maximize the student’s experience. For us, it is the single most important factor in student success while visiting Campbell River. Our Homestay Coordinator is responsible for onboarding new Host Families including all necessary screening and orienting Host Families so we can work together as a team to provide a warm and supportive home life for our students. Our Homestay Coordinator works to ensure that each student is matched with the best host family possible.
Campbell River Schools International Homestay Program is governed by the British Columbia (BC) Ministry of Education Homestay Guidelines. Campbell River Schools International adheres to and exceeds the expectations set out in the Ministry Homestay Guidelines.
