Located in SE Alberta, Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education has 9 Schools in the City of Medicine Hat serving students in Medicine Hat, Redcliff and Dunmore. We are a publicly funded vibrant part of the public education system in Alberta. The City of Medicine Hat is a thriving city of 68,155 residents. The City is a community of choice with an excellent climate, vibrant arts and entertainment and ample recreation with more days of sunshine per year than any other city in Canada.
Alberta’s beauty and diverse landscapes (Rocky Mountains, rolling hills, prairies, desert badlands, parklands, and coniferous forests) are all driving distance from our city. The four seasons allow opportunity to explore all of nature in its unique way. Our carefully selected Homestay Families provide a safe, nurturing, and worry free environment for our International Students. Medicine Hat people are known to be dedicated, passionate, hard-working, and nature loving. The Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education has a history of welcoming exchange students to Canada. Students are matched with homestay families who provide a private bedroom, three wholesome meals per day and participation in family activities. Emotional and academic support is provided by the homestay family, the school community, and the International Education Supervisor. Because of the school dynamics, we are able to provide one on one counselling when necessary. Our homestay families are handpicked members of the community and offer a safe, secure, and welcome environment for our international students. We are proud of our community partners who provide ongoing leadership to our students.
Our international students join extracurricular school sports teams, clubs and choose from a wide variety of classes including English, Math, Social Studies, Science, Band, Drama, Art, Video Production, Photography, Wood Construction, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Sports Medicine, AP, RAP (trades), and Learning Strategies/Second Language Students and much more. Not only do we take personal pride in including international students in regular classes, but also in all school related events/class trips. We also encourage our international students to reciprocate by sharing their gifts and talents for a truly unique and immersive experience for all!
