Prairie Land Public School Division is innovative, unique, and provides safe, small town living that is authentic to the Alberta experience. The rural Alberta experience will provide international students relevant learning opportunities in addition to activities such as horseback riding on the prairies, skiing and snowboarding in the Rocky Mountains, all while receiving an education from one of the top curricula in the world.
An innovative and entrepreneurial division, Prairie Land is very proud of the evolving programs and opportunities made available to our international students. Our Schools of Excellence initiative within the division has produced Academies in Agriculture, Horticulture, Outdoor Pursuits, Trades and Technologies, as well as Hockey and Baseball. The evolution of this ideology has created opportunities for international students to become accredited in select programs outside of a regular high school education. We are leaders in innovation and are sharing provincially and internationally that Prairie Land is the place to be educated.
If you cannot personally attend in Alberta, we also provide an online program that will allow you to graduate with an Alberta Education High School Diploma from the comfort of your home. Inclusivity is important to us, therefore we have developed an online school ready to meet the needs of all learners.

Prairie Land Public School Division is innovative, unique, and provides safe, small town living that is authentic to the Alberta experience. The division serves a very large, sparsely populated area which spans over 9000 square kilometers in the southeastern part of Alberta (approximately 2 hours east of Calgary).
Students participating in Prairie Land International’s Residency Programs will be billeted at carefully vetted local homes to provide them with genuine Canadian experiences. Homes may be located in towns/hamlets near the student’s school, or on area farms and ranches. In the latter case, students will be transported to school by division owned and operated buses. Every effort will be made to accommodate student dietary and religious practices, subject to availability.
Homestay families will be carefully chosen through:
an interview process
reference checks
a Criminal Record check
a provincial Child Intervention Record check.
The rural Alberta experience will provide international students relevant learning opportunities in addition to activities such as horseback riding on the prairies, skiing and snowboarding in the Rocky Mountains, all while receiving an education from one of the top curricula in the world. Prairie Land schools offer a wide-variety of both curricular and extra-curricular programs that enhance the learning experience for all students. Schools strive to offer programs that enhance both the students’ lives and the communities they serve. It has been noted in the Alberta Education Accountability Pillar that both curricular and extra-curricular programming at Prairie Land Schools continue to thrive.
