Livingstone Range School Division

Livingstone Range Schools International Program is designed to meet the individual needs of each student that attends its schools. Students who choose to come to our schools will experience high quality academics, caring teachers, safe communities, access to a variety of sports, arts and outdoor activities. Programs are designed to fit each students needs and allows the development of English language competencies while studying in a regular Alberta classroom. Students have the opportunity to explore and expand their interests by participating in a wide variety of elective programs as well as academic classes. Livingstone Range Schools will help the international students set individual goals and then provide the support and programs to meet the goals. Assistance with exploring post-secondary programs is available to all of our students and tours of local post-secondary institutes are arranged for all that are interested.

Students interested in developing their English language abilities and competencies while studying the full Alberta curriculum in a safe, caring environment will find themselves at home and succeeding in Livingstone Range Schools.

Livingstone Range School Division is located in Southwestern Alberta, one hour south of the city of Calgary, an area embraced by brilliant blue skies, fresh air, wide open spaces and the western spirit. Located along the foothills and into the Canadian Rockies, Livingstone Schools offer international students the opportunity to explore the history of Alberta while enjoying western hospitality. Each community in the region offers a safe and caring learning environment in conjunction with a unique personality and attractions. Amazing mountain scenery and wide open plains will greet the international student as they arrive in our region. A strong sense of western culture dominates the area and students have the opportunity to participate in numerous outdoor activities that demonstrates this belief. The area includes Waterton Lakes National Park, Two First Nation Communities, and large ranchlands.

From hiking in the summer to snow skiing in the winter, this area can offer it all to enhance the international student’s experience.

Students requiring homestays are placed with carefully-selected host families that closely match the student’s homestay profile. All of our homestays are safe, clean, pre-screened Canadian family homes. Each homestay family must undergo a screening check which included Police security checks, visits to the home by the homestay coordinator and interviews with Homestay coordinator. Placements are supervised and supported by a designated Homestay Coordinator that regularly checks with each student and homestay parent.

Our host families are an integral part of the International Student Program in Livingstone Range School Division. Their active and enthusiastic participation in our program enhances each student’s cultural experience and ensures they maximize their time in Canada. Families undergo an orientation prior to the arrival of the students to ensure they understand the culture and needs of the students.

When students attend Livingstone Range School Division they will find the families they stay with will accept them as family members and are eager to meet them and share our province with the student.

Students attending Livingstone Range School Division will have an opportunity to participate in all the regular school sports. These include Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Baseball, Golf, Football, Rodeo, Rugby, Track and Field, and numerous other sports. In addition to the school activities the local area offers amazing opportunities to participate in numerous outdoor activities. Within the boundaries of the school division are two ski hills and countless miles of area to hike and explore. Students are invited to attend events that are sponsored by the school division, these include a The Livingstone Range International Student Program sponsors a wide variety of activities, events and trips designed to maximize each student’s cultural and recreational experience.
