Edmonton Public Schools’ International Student Program welcomes and educates international students from around the world. We have over 25 years of experience in serving international students with comprehensive academic programming that includes a strong emphasis on preparation for university and post-secondary entrance. Our schools offer exciting choices in courses and activities to meet the diverse needs and interests of all of our students.
In addition to the rigorous Alberta Curriculum, we offer an Advanced Placement (AP) Program. Students may receive credits for exceptional performance in this program that can be applied towards entry into post-secondary institutions worldwide. English as a Second Language (ESL) support is available at all levels; communication skills through reading, writing, listening and speaking are emphasized, as students are introduced to the rules and principles of the English language. Edmonton Public also offers a wide range of optional courses – students may choose from over 100 options based on their talents and interests. All of our international students are integrated into classrooms with Canadian peers.

To support international students beyond school, we also offer a safe, competent Homestay Program. Relationship managers as well as international student advisors in each school, provide ongoing support to students as they adjust to life and school in Edmonton.
There are many opportunities for students to participate in sports at the school and inter school levels, and Sports Alternative Programs are available for more elite athletes who wish to pursue their individual sport, while keeping up with their academic studies. The academic programming provided for elite athletes facilitates their training and participation in competitions by providing flexible scheduling of their courses of study. Sports alternatives include dance, fencing, tennis, alpine skiing, golf, soccer and hockey training.
