There is easy access to our Division as the Edmonton International Airport is within our borders.  Black Gold, includes two cities, Leduc and Beaumont, as well as five rural communities that give students a wide range of Canadian experiences. Located less than 20 minutes away from Alberta’s capital city, Edmonton, Black Gold School Division is uniquely situated, as it offers the best of both urban and rural settings, with easy access to amenities no matter where you are in the division.

Our supervised Homestay program matches students with families in the community.  Students become a member of the family they live with and part of the community they live in.  Students thrive in this safe, supportive, English-speaking environment.  Homestay families are committed to include international students in meaningful family time including meals, conversations, and excursions. A host family provides more than just a room; they create a unique and immersive way to connect with a Canadian family, learn about their culture, and form unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime. 

Nature Enthusiasts can explore the stunning landscape year-round by hiking, biking or quadding during summer months and snowshoeing, cross country and downhill skilling or snowmobiling in the winter. The region also offers many opportunities for fishing, swimming and boating on nearby lakes and rivers. Students interested in seeking cultural experiences can visit the many festivals, events, and markets that showcase diverse traditions, arts and cuisine. Our urban areas provide easy access to top notch recreational facilities that offer gyms and swimming pools, allowing students to stay active and participate in a variety of different sports related activities. Additionally, there several shopping and arts districts located nearby where students can socialize and immerse themselves in local culture.
