With a focus on global citizenship, Coquitlam School Board strives to equip all of our students with the skills to thrive and succeed as world leaders. All of our 70+ schools – including 8 high schools – are centres of excellence for teaching and learning, with libraries, wireless internet environments, science labs, theatres, fine arts rooms, athletic facilities, ESL, and international student support. We provide an English immersion environment in which students acquire English quickly with the support of excellent teachers. Our many and varied programs include Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Online, Montessori, career, foreign languages, and specialized academic programs. Our international coordinators support our international students academically and emotionally and help them to adjust to and achieve success in their new educational setting.

School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) – encompassing the cities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody and the villages of Anmore and Belcarra – in Greater Vancouver, is the third largest public school district in the Province of British Columbia, Canada, with 32,000 K-12 students and a community population of 210,000 spread over 200 square kilometers. We invite parents of school-aged children from around the world to visit our school district and learn more about our school programs, culture, facilities, and the natural beauty of one of the best living and learning regions in Canada. Nestled in the mountains and edged by the Pacific Ocean and the Fraser River, we enjoy a mild climate with a safe environment and an affluent lifestyle. Homestay in Coquitlam School District is more than just food and lodging – it is a chance to take part in all aspects of family life. We believe that our students will feel that they really do have a “home away from home” environment. Homestay includes room and board with a separate bedroom in a family setting. There are many families in the Coquitlam area looking forward to welcoming you as part of their family while you are studying in school district 43. (Note: Elementary school students must live with a parent during long-term programs.)
There are many community sports and performing arts programs available to students within the Coquitlam School District area. Each school offers a variety of extra-curricular activities and clubs including drama, band, choir, yearbook, skiing, chess and athletic activities as field hockey, basketball, soccer, wrestling, swimming, track & field and others. Students are encouraged to join in these extra-curricular activities to experience a feeling of involvement, as this is an excellent way to improve language skills in a friendly environment.
